AKAROA RAILWAY
A meeting of tbe Akavoa railway committee and the general public was held yesterday at JDuraucliella'a Bay. Mr J. D. Q-arwood, tho chairman of the committee, occupied the chair, and a large number of the principal residents of the peninsula were present. Eesolutions were adopted continuing the present committee, ■with power to add to their number. The peninsula was mapped out into districts, and residents in each district were appointed to collect statistics and give evidence before the Boyal Commission when it visits Akaroa. Mr Q-arwood was re-appointed chairman, and the meeting, after instructing tho chairman as to tho procuring of traffic statistics in reference to the original Canterbury railways, separated, on the understanding that tho chairman ahould call another when requisite.
