NATIVE LAND COURT.
KAIAPOI. Wednesday, March 24. [Before his Honor Judge Symends and Hoani Taipua, Native Assessor. ] His Honor, on takinghia seat at 10 a.m,, asked the Natives if they had come to any conclusion as to offering any suggestion relative to the division of the reserves. It was stated, in reply, that at the meeting of the runanga a proposition had been carried to ask the Court to apportion 22 acres to each of the 101 adults, thus taking 2322 acres, and 10 acres to 58 infants, thus taking 580 acres, and leaving 150 acres not apportioned. Respecting the 100 acres of bush land at Oxford, the Natives desired to share in it according to tho names taken at a previous Court. His Honor asked if the Natives were unanimous in the recommendation which they now made, and received an affirmative reply. After an adjournment of the Court at 2 p.m., Hone Paratene asked that an alteration might be made so that each child should have half as many acres as an adult. His Honor took the voices of tho Natives present on the question, when this proposal was carried by a large majority, only one or two dissenting. The Court then proceeded to appoint trustees for the minors and insane persons. An adjournment was made at 5 p.m. till 10 a,m. on Saturday.
