RANGIORA MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
A sitting of this Court was held on March 23rd, before J. Beswick, Esq., R.M., A. H. Cunningham, and S. Hey wood, Esqs. S. Green, for allowing cattle to wander, was fined ss. Ah Hone, charged with a breach of the borough by-laws, was dismissed witha caution. D. Roach, a boy of tender years, was charged with stealing a rail, and his mother was charged with receiving the same. _ Both offences were admitted, and his Worship after admonishing the woman, who pleaded poverty, dismissed the cases. H. Blackett v M. Ronan, claim £39 17s 7d. In this case judgment had been given for plaintiff at the last court, and an application was now made to set the judgment aside, on the ground that defendant had filed a notice of insolvency nearly three years ago, that the amount of the debt was included in the schedule, and that the estate was still in the Supremo Court. The Bench said that as the matter had been heard before Mr Whitefoord, it would be adjourned to next sitting day. J. Johnston vG. 8. Bartrum, £36 Hs Bd, set off £l6 15s 9d, judgment for £l9 15s, F. Hodges v B. Lilly, £27, adjourned. Mr B. Flynn, Ashley Hotel, obtained a transfer of license to a booth on the North Canterbury race ground.
