OBITUARY.

Yesterday the funeral of the widow of the late Mr E. Hay, of Annandale, Pigeon Bay, took place at the Scotch Cemetery, Christchurch. There was a very large number of persons present, including most of the leading settlers of the Peninsula, who camo specially to pay the last tribute of respect to the memory of one of the pioneers of Canterbury. The Hays of Pigeon Bay are intimately associated with the early history of Canterbury. They ware always careful to exercise a warm and kindly hospitality to all with whom they were brought into contact, and the late Mrs Hay will be missed by a wide circle of friends, not only in the province but beyond its bounds, by whom she was held in much respect and esteem.
