ASHBURTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of those interested took place at Quill’s Hotel on Thursday night. There was a fair attendance ; Mr Jacobson occupying the chair. It was resolved that the annual subscription for member’s ticket should be 10s fid, and that the officers of the society should consist of a president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary, and twelve committee men. Gentlemen were elected to fill these posts, but some not being present, and their consent not having been obtained, itis not yet certain whether they will accept the position. It was resolved —“ That a meeting for considering the advisability of having the first exhibition in March next, and adopting rules, should be htld shortly.” The movement has met with great support, many having promised to subscribe, and there is little doubt "the association w«li p-ovo a great success.
