The following letter has been received by Mr Stead, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce : “ Colonial Secretary’s Office, Wellington, New Zealand, 26tb November, 1879. —Sir, —I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the date quoted in the margin (22nd instant), forwarding copy of a resolution passed at a general meeting of the CanterburyChamber of Commerce, to the effect that a cable communication be despatched to the English Government, requesting that a vessel may be ordered to proceed to the Orozets Islands to search for the ship Knowsley Hall and her passengers and crew. lam directed by Mr Hall to inform you that a telegraphiccommunication has been sent to the AgentGeneral to urge the Admhalty to take the action suggested by the Chamber.—l have the honor to be, sir, your most obedient servant, G.
