XiYTTELTON Ma toe a l E LECTION. POLLING DAY, WEDNESDAY. VOTE FOE ALLWEIGHT, WHO HA 3 SERVED YOU WELL IN THE 11-25 PAST. 2017 TO THE BURGESSES OF LYTTELTON. |~'fIRCUMSTANCES of which yon are all aware prevent me addressing yon before the election for Mayor takes place. Not that I could have enlightened you particularly with reference to any of the local questions which arc likely to coma within the scope of the Mayor, as your acquaintance already with such questions must be ns familiar as my own. But had an opportunity offered I should have been glad to acquaint myself with any special wishes you may entertain in reference fo town matters. As it is I must ask your indulgence, depending npon me to carry out those wishes, as in the past I have endeavored to consult and carry out your wishes for the benefit of our town. Whether re-elected or not to be your Mayor, the interests of our growing town will never, as you know, be neglected by me. It is for you to decide whther my past work in this direction merits a renewal of your confidence in me. My inability to have addressed you personally I regret, but not BO my absence from among you on polling day, feeling as I do that the honor of my re-election will be greatly enhanced by being achieved under such circumstances, circumstances which my opponent might be expected to regard as a sufficient answer jo charges of unfair electioneering, were his instincts not of those who measure other men’s actions by their own unworthy motives. Trusting implicitly the result in your hands, and hoping soon to see yon, I am, yours sincerely, HARRY ALLWEIGHT. Wellington, 2\ T ovember 20th, 1879. 11-25 2018 ICE. ICE.
