AQUATICS.

The members of the Union Rowing Club got through the first part of their season’s programme of racing on Saturday afternoon, when seven crews met to compete for prizes offered by the committee for competition by pairs in stump outriggers, over a mile course, viz., from Pratt’s to the willows below the sheds. The races were rowed in heats ; but, with one or two exceptions, and these only for a short distance, none of the events were closely contested. The final heat was won by F. Moule and J. This position was maintained to within a couple of hundred yards of the winning post, when Parsons put on an extra spurt, and began to overhaul the loading board. Moule and Shackleton, however, had the race well in hand, and were first abreast of the flag post with about two lengths to pare.
