ODDFELLOWSHIP.
The twenty-first celebration of the anniversary of the Kaiapoi Lodge was held on Thursday, and took the form of a tea and entertainment. The tea was provided by the lady friends of the order. At the entertainment which followed there was an unusually large attendance. Bro. W. Fraser, D.P.M., occupied the chair. Songs were given by Mr Q-. W. Wearing and Miss J. Monk, musical selections by Mrs Harvey and Mias Monk, and a duett “ Rural Courtship” by Mr T. Weston and Miss Pinching, all of which were well received. The comedy of “The Serious Family” was then repeated, in which the principal characters were taken as follows:—Lady Sowerby Oreamley, Mr M. H. Smith j Mrs Charles Torrens, Miss Arethusa May; Miss Emma Torrens, Mrs Fraser; Mrs Delmain, Miss Kaufmans; Graham, Miss Ward; Charles Torrens, Mr F. W. Thompson; Oapt. Murphy Maguire, Mr Bernays; Frank Vincent, Mr G. H. Barclay ; Aminadab Sleek, Mr G. F. Hewlings. The acting of Lady Oreamley and Aminadab Sleek, as well as that of Charles Torrens was capital. The performers were all vary good, and the piece was well received. There was a decided improvement in the finale, which fairly brought the house down. A ball, at which there was a good attendance, terminated the proceedings.
