According to the news from Brisbane, the punishment inflicted on the natives of Brooker Island by H.M. schooner Beagle has had a salutary effect. SYDNEY, August 13. H.M.S. Beagle inflicted severe punishment on the Cloudy Bay natives, for murdering Europeans. She burnt their villages, and obtemed the remnants of the victims. A launch, with fifteen men aboard, has gone down to Torres Straits pearl fishing.
