THE BELFAST FIRE.
The following is the detailed account of the insurance* on the building, stock, and plant burnt yesterday morning: Transatlantic .£IOOO New Zealand 2000 Victoria 1000 South British 2000 Standard 1000 Imperial 1000 National 670 £8670 The operations of the company will not be altogether stopped, as it is the intention of Mr Watt to utilise the Templeton factory, built by the Canterbury Meat Export Company, and purchased three years ago by the New Zealand Provision and Produce Company. Since then it has remained unoccupied. As soon as Mr Watt realised the impossibility of resuming operations at Belfast he despatched a staff of men to Templeton to do all that was required to fit the factory there for the re-commencement of work, and in two or three days the operation of meat-preserving will be in full swing.
