C..T.C. AUTUMN MEETING. Stewards—Messrs. J. Studholme, H. Prins, L. Walker, E. L. Clogstoun, F. W. Delamain, J. Brabazon, Sir J. C.Wilson, C. 8., K.S.I. Judge—Mr M. Studholme. Handicapper— Mr H. P. Lance. Starrar—Mr J. Oamrbell. Clerk of tho Course—Mr E. W. Millett. Clerk of the Scales—Mr S. Garforth. Hon Treasurer—Mr G. G. Stead. Second Day. The Jockey Club were favored with really splendid weather for their second day's sport. Hence the attendance was largely increased, and the racing was more thoroughly enjoyed than was possible under the depressing influences of a soaking rain. The first event on the card was the Flying Stakes, for which nine were coloured on the card, but Naiad, Saunterer, On Dit, and Casta Diva soon declined to tiy conclusions. Under these circumstances, though Nemo was thought by some to have a show, the race was generally conceded to lay between the three top weights. Of these old Templeton was most fancied, though there were many suppoiters of the Hook, and tho Dunedin cup winner had also a few friends. Mr Shadbolt's filly was an absentee, thus leaving a quartette to go to the post for the race. Fishhook justified the the support of his friends by winning etnily by two lengths from Mata. Flying Stakes of 100 sovs for two-year-olds and upwards, added to a sweepstake of 5 sovs each. Weight for age. Three-quarters of a milo. Mr W. F. Neilson's b g Fishhook, aged, (Stewart) 1 Mr G. Reeves' b f Casta Diva, 2 yrs, 6st6lb 0 After but a slight delay Mr Campbell sent tho lot away to a capital start for all but Mata, who had all the worst of it. After a few hundred yards had been gone Fishhook, Templeton and Nemo were running in a cluster. Clifford sent Mata along, and soon got on terms with the leaders, Fishhook dropping behind. At the turn Fishhook came on the inside, and took the lead with Templeton second, Mata third, and Nemo lying close up. In this order they ran down the straight, the representative of tho rose and black stiipes, having a clear load of a length, and winning by two. from Mata, Templeton third, Nemo fourth. Time—lmin. 21? sees.

For the steeplechase four were colored on the card, and of these Agent and Fakir were the most fancied. Te Whetu carried a little money, and Ivanhoe also had a few friends. Agent, after a grand race throughout, pulled off a well-deserved victory for Mr Butler. Handicap Steeplechase, of 100 sovs , added to. a sweepstake of 10 sovs. each. About may direct. Mr P. Butler's ch g The Agent, 5 yrs, 12st 71b (W. Hankins) 1 Mr C. Goodman's b g Ivanhoe, aged, 10*t 121 b (Owner) 2 Mr W. F. Neilson's ch g Te Whetu, aged, 12st 31b (O'Neill) 3 Mr H. Lunn's gr g Fakir, aged, lOst 71b ... _ ... (Osborne) 4 The race is easily described. Ivanhoe went away with the load after a fight between the respective horses as to who should be over the first fence, a great deal of modesty being exhibited. Ivanhoe led for some distance, with Agent second, Fakir third, and Te Whetu last. Coming past the stand the second timp, Ivanhoe led, with Agent 2, Fakir 3. At Redwood's Agent took the lead, with Fakir second, Ivanhoe third, and Te Whetu last. In this order they ran to the double, when Ivanhoe took second place and raced Agent to the last hurdle. Coming for home, Agent just forged ahead of Ivanhoe, and a grand race terminated in favor of Mr Butler's horse by two lengths, Ivanhoe second, and Te Whetu third. Fakir clean out of it.

The Easter Handicap brought out a field of ten, Vampire being the only absentee. This was perhaps the best race of the meeting, and resulted in a victory for the Dunedin Cup winner, his stable companion running second. Chancellor, who ran a good horse, finished a fair third.

Easter Handicap, of 100 sovs., for three-year-olds and upwards, added to a sweepstake of 7 sovs each. Second horse to save his stake. One mile. Mr G. Eraser's b g Mata, 4 yi-s, 9st (Clifford) 1 Mr G. Fraser's ch g Longlands, 4 j ra, 7st 71b

Neilson's br g Numa, aged, sst 71b 0 Mr Campbell, after a little delay and false starts, in which the colors of Chancellor were conspicuous, got the lot away on very good terms, except Mata, who hud a trifle the worst of it. Chancellor cut out the running at a hot pace, with the two representatives of the orange and black in close attendance. The rest joined the rear division, with Camballo and Lara. In this order they ran to the turn, where all were under the whip. Chancellor at first sight seemed to havo a bit the best of it, but the orange and black colors slowly but surely forged to the front, and Mr Fraser's two representatives finished first and second, about a length dividing them from Chancellor, who was third. Time—lmin. 47|sec. The rest came in in the ruck.
