MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, March 18. [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., R.M., and J. P. Jameson and G. L. Lee, Esq., J.P’s.] Arson. —Isidor Schwartz and Sigismund Schwartz were charged with having on the 17th instant set fire to some goods in a building in High street. Mr Joynt appeared for the accused. Mr Inspector Hickson asked for the discharge of Sigismund, and that Isidor might be remanded. Mr Joynt objected to a remand, and asked that some evidence might bo taken. Mr Inspector Hickson said he would rather not bring forward any at present. Sigismund Schwartz was then discharged, and Isidor remanded until the 25th inst. Bail was allowed in two sureties of £l5O each, and the accused in £3OO. Indecent Assault. —John Manders was brought up on a charge of criminally assaulting a married woman on the IGth inst. After hearing the evidence, the prisoner was committed for trial at the next session of the Supreme Court.
