The following is a correct list, as far as can be ascertained, of the insurances on the block of buildings burnt last nipht in Lichfield street, and also on the premises of Messrs Twentyman and Cousin in Cashel street The total loss is variously estimated at between £26,000 and £30,100, the lowest figure being probably ihe nearer of the two. It will be seen that the loss sustained by the insurance companies is gre. ter than any they have sustained for a very long time. IIOHBIBLD STEBET BLOCK. South British £750 Colonial 750 Total £1,500 The two last insurances were on building and stock, and will be only a partial loss. A Dunedin correspondent telegraphs to ns that Sargood and Co. loses £IOOO above insurances. Their insurances are—National, £2000; Victoria, £1000: Transatlantic, £1000; Northern, £SOO
