AUCKLAND RACES. [By Telegraph.] [prom the correspondent op the press.] Auckland, December 23. A good deal of interest is taken in the races. At Ellerslie course this morning twenty-four horses were brought out, all but two of whom wore put to more or less vigorous work. There were a good number of ardent sportsmen on tho ground, paying special attention to four new arrivals from the South—viz., Vallancc’s Pin (ire and Eversley, and Butler’s Agent and his black colt Fiction. These horses landed in excellent form, and their appearance does justice to their trainers. Yallanco has his own stock in hand, while Hankins has charge of the representatives of Butler’s stables. Fiction had a slightly stiff way of going this morning, which many attributed to tho effects of his recent voyage.
