BOARD OF HEALTH.
The Board of Health held its usual meeting on the adjournment of the Drainage Board. Present —Messrs Ross (chairman), Duncan, Hobbs, and Tancred. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. inspkctoe's ebpobt.
I beg to report as follows 1. As requested by the Board, Mr Puschell has famished a sketch plan of the locality in which he is desirous to establish his fellmongery business.
2. Owing to complaint of nuisance arising from deposit of night soil on land situate on Sandhills road, I have inspected in the neighbourhood, and found that night soil had been so deposited, ami had been used as manure. I cautioned the person implicated that he would be ! espomible for any nuisance that might arise f om this practice. 3. The ditch on Ollivier’s road has been cleaned out. I still detect a stench from that portion near the Perry road. I would recommend that the deep portion which allows the deposit of sludge should be filled up to the level of the ordinary side drains. 4 I have already reported that the nuisance arising from the premises of the candle manufacturer is mateiially abated by the action taken by the B ard on former complaints, yet complaints continue to be made that a nuisance still pxists. I have referred the. persons complaining io clause 75 of Act, which points out that any previous action of the Board will not affect the right of any individual complainant to his remedy at law 5. The Sydenham Borough Council is preparing for a scaveng ring service for the borough; there are already several premises from which night soil is regula-ly removed, and cesspits arc being gradually abolished, 6. I have b en encaged inspecting from house to house in Bingsland. Wm. Pearce, Chief Inspector of Nuisances.
