Last Night’s Proceedings. Wellington, November 7. The following new Bills have been intro • duced The Electric Telegraph Amendment Bill (Mr Fisher), the Borough of New Plymouth Endowment Bill (Mr Kelly), the Public Health Amendment Bill (Mr Moorhouse), a B'il to Vest Certain Lands in the Timaru Harbor Board (Mr Stafford), the Disqualification Act Amendment Bill (Sir G. Grey). Mr Fox asked the Government without notice whether any communications had taken place between them and the Governor'on the privilege question, and, if so, when the House would be informed of the result. Sir G. Grey replied that communications had passed between Ministers and the Governor, and the house would be informed of the result, so soon as those communications were closed. The amendments of the Council in the Wanganui Harbor Endowment and Borrowing Bill were agreed to. The following Bills were read a second time —The Disqualification Bill, No 1, Taranaki County Reserve Bill, The Lotteries and Art Unions Bill, The Wakanui Harbor Board Bill, The Waikouaiti Harbor Endowment Bill, The Waikouaiti Athemeum Land Bill, The Queenstown Athenajum Bill, and the Riverton Public School Bill were read a third time and passed. In committee the Forest Trees Planting Encouragement Bill was opposed on the ground of no limit being placed, on the land to be given as compensation. Progress was reported. In committee on the Strath Taieri and Clyde Railway Bill, Mr M'Lean wanted the words “ or Palmerston ” inserted after Taieri, but this was negatived. A motion to reduce the rate of interest in the last clause from 7 to 6 per cent was lost by 36 to 25. The Riverton Harbor Endowment and Borrowing Bill and The Patea Harbor Board Act Amendment Bill passed through committee, and the House rose at 12.45 p.m.
