MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, September 7. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly. For this offence Thomas Bevan was fined 5s and James Watson, an old offender, was fined 10s, and cautioned not to appear again. LICENSING COURT. Tuesday, September 7. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq, R.M., and G. L. Lee, and H. J. Tancred, Esq.’s Commissioners.] 'The quarterly meeting of the Licensing Court was held this morning. The following applications for hotel licenses were heard : Josef Sluis, Perthshire Arms Hotel, Lincoln. The police had reported favourably, and in reply to the Court, Mr Inspector Buckley said the house was kept 1 very clean, and had been well conducted. License granted. George Rogers, Templeton Hotel, Templeton. Mr Thomas appeared for the applicant, and said the license was granted in J uuc, but the applicant unfortunately did not take up his license. Since the application, Mr Rogers had added a large stable. License granted. Benjamin Searle, Cass River Hotel. Mr Thomas appeared for the applicant. License granted. In reply to one of the applicants, his Worship said he (the applicant) could open his house on the first day of next month.
