BRITISH PRESIDENT STATES DECISION RESTS WITH CLUBS

LONDON, Jan. 30. Speaking at the Rosslyn Park (Football Club dinner. Mr. Baxter, president of the Rugby Union, sain that South Africa. New Zealand and New South Wales were desirous of having some say in the government of the game . “Ycur first natural tnought is tnative will have none of it,” lie said. ’ It is our game; we bred the players, and we will stick to it.; but if we take a large view can we say that we are right? I do not agree with the sacrifice of our birthright. It i? our game, and we must have the supreme control. Nevertheless we Want to keep these great countries, with their thousands of players, in the game, and, if so, we must give them a say in its government.” Mr. Baxter, continuing, said that the Rugby Union, to be perfectly fair, must wait for the considered opinion of its clubs. “If the clubs say to go on and produce a scheme which will give added interest, the Rugby Union will support it and that it gees through.”—A. and 2s C.A
