NEW RUGBY RULES
ENGLISH CRITICS EXAMINE X.Z. PROPOSALS (United Preea Association— Couj-i-wrat.) (Received Nov. -5. -5.-3 itm.l LONDON.' Nov. 4. The Daily Chronicle critic, examining the proposals that New Zealand is submitting to the forthcoming meeting of the Rugby International Board agrees that in the vast majority of cases tries are more important and more deserving than dropped goals and hopes that the conference will at least reduce the points therefore to three. He supports the New Zealanders’ suggested alteration in the off-side ru'e, wheremider an off-side*- is not put on side till liis opponent lias touched or kicked tht ball. The critic recommends that lines should he drawn parallel to tht touchlines, five yards inside, and nobody should be allowed between these during line-outs. Though he acunits it will probably be regarded as heresy to adopWmy of the Northern League rules, he strongly favors that preventing the scrum half crossing to his opponent’s side untol the latter has'the ball in his hands.—-A. and^N.Z.C.A.
