DELAY IN TRANSMISSION OF REPORTS. GRIEVANCE REMOVED. WELLINGTON, Oct.; 24. In> consequence of the delay in the transmission of the football reports, strong representations were made at the instance of the Press Association to the Pacific cable authorities, which ■at first met with no response on the ground that the traffic was congested, and football could rot he given preference over commercial work. Mr Markmr.u, secretary of the G.P.0., who is at present in London, was then cabled by "the Department, and he interviewed the‘ Pacific Board, at first •with no better result. He has now sent word that upon further representations he has obtained, in the face •of strong opposition a promise that the mid-week messages shall receive -preference.—P.A.
