A MOHAMMEDAN DEPUTATION. REPLY BY VISCOUNT MOBLEY. United Press Association, Copyright (Beceived Jan. 28, 11.5 p.m.) • LONDON, Jan. 28. A deputation of Indian Mohammedans suggested that of six members of the- Viceroy’s Executive Council one should be a native Mohammedan, and another a Hindu. Viscount Mo Hoy, in reply, emphasised that the appointment of an Indian member was intended as a sign and proof that- race was no disability to the attainment of a position of tremendous trust, but mo man was selected either as a Hindu or a Mohammedan. While ready to make one of the six members a native, he saw no chance of appointing two natives. Ho auded in icfcience to other suggestions that separate electoral colleges for Mohammedans might possibly be arranged. "V isoount Morley, concluding, declined that the scheme had been generally welcomed in India. Tic emphasised the goodwill of the Indian Civil Service, He also stated that he had derived encouragement from President Roosevelt's,utterance.
