AN INDUSTRIAL PROGRAMME. labor-saving patents. United Press Association. Copyright SYDNEY, Jan. 28. The Labor Council resolved in favor of a general reduction in the hours of labor to 44 on account of the increase in the productivity of labor; the abolition of overtime for those -who have worked eight hours; a sixhours day for underground workers; the minimum living wage to he not less than 8s per day ; employment of children under 16 years to be. prohibited in any industrial occupation ; no person under 18 to work ,ovcitime. The conference instructed that communication be opened up with the leading industrial centres of Europe and America to bring about co-opera-tive action to prevent labor-saving patent® becoming the monopoly of capitalists.
