GISBORNE CLUB. The members of the Gisborne Bowling Club mustered in strong force yesterday afternoon, when several games in the President’s Cup. Handicap Singles, Handicap Fours, and the competition for Mr. J. 11. Martin’s medals wore got off, besides a number of practice games. The green was m good playing form, and a very pleasant- afternoon was spent by all present. The following'" are the results of the play:— CHAMPION CUP. F. W. Pettie 20 beat Gaudin 17. F. A. Martin 19 beat Brady 14. \ Williams 17 beat Eure 11. HANDICAP SINGLES. Redstone 23 beat J. F. Pettie 13. Corson 35 beat T. Olai'kson 15. Dodds 24 beat Seymour 22. Kvme 28 beat Hcnnessy 17. HANDICAP FOURS. Kvme, W. Morgan, F. W. Pettie, Corson (skip) (6) 30, beat Dodds, J. F. Pettie (sub). J. 11. Martin, Henliessy (skip) (4) 12.—This game, which excited -considerable interest on account of its having beon delayed under somewhat exceptional circumstances, proved a one-sided affair. Hcnnessy’s rink scored on the first two heads, but Corson then took the lead, which ho never lost. The losing rink scored on only four more heads. THE MARTIN MEDALS.

Pavitt, Malcolm, W. Pettie, Robertson (ship) (3) 31 beat Bullock, Lucas., Paitridge, J. J. Martin (skip) IS. —During the first ton heads the game was even, the score on the tenth being Robertson 15, Martin 14. _ The former then assumed the lead, which he never lost. His team scored five, two, and four on the 13th, 14tli and 15tli heads, and during the remainder of the game Martin only made four singles. OTHER MATCHES. ..McGlashao, Hansen, IV. R. Clarkson, T. A. Clarkson, Witty (skip) 12. TURANGANUI CLUB. Notwithstanding the threatening weather yesterday afternoon, there was a large attendance of howlers on the Turanganui Club’s green, some enjoyable practice and match .games being played. Afternoon' tea was provided by Mrs. J. Colley, who was assisted by iMesdames ' Martin and Grattan, tho refreshments being much appreciated. The following are the results of the match games: — '• - HANDICAP PAIRS. J. Somervell and A. Sawyer (21) beat D. McSkirmning and M. A. Neill (13).—This was Hie play-off in the tie in Section A. The former pair, securing a six oil the second head, soon had the game in. their control, and led throughout, .winning easily.by 8 points. „ • W. McPherson and W. Ratcliffe (24) beat Cussens and A. Zacharjah (19). —This was the play-off in the tie in Section Q» The former •

Douglas (12). —Colley had • tho better of the game throughout, tho issue never being in doubt, eventually winning by 6 noints. • J. J. (Martin,(lß) beat Mi A. Neill (17). —This was’ia splendid game, and on the 15th bead both players were level—l2 al'!. On the 20th- head Neill was 17 to 15, but Martin, getting in 3, wrested the game from his opponent, and won by the narrowest possible margin. COLTS’ SINGLES. F. Creamer (24) beat H. Anderson (10). —On the 7th head Anderson was 5 to 3, but Creamer, scoring on tho noxt eight beads, made the issue safe, winning easily at the finish by 21: (including handicap of 3) to 10. .W. MoPhcrson (24) beat R. 0. Skeot (15). — ; Skcot had overtaken his opponent’s handioap of 5 on the 4th head, but McPherson led on tho 12th head by 14 to 12. Thereafter McPherson kept steadily going, and at the finish Quad tan advantage of 9 points. _ ■ • Three' more matches in the first round of the Colts’ Singles remain to be played.
