Twenty-four competitors faced the starter for tho road race to Ormond and buck yesterday afternoon, for the cup presented by Mr. D. J. Barry. 'The roads were rather bumpy, but otherwise were in excellent order, and the race was quite free from mishaps of a serious nature.. The 'following is the result:—J. King (200 sec) 1, time Ikr smin 23sec; E. A. McKenzie (2605e0) 2, time libr 6‘min 30sec; E. Morrow (330 sec) 3, time lhr 7min 42sec; P. Fislibacli (125 sec) 4, time lhr smin Bsce. H. Davis (65sec) and Fislibacli tied for the fastest time, and the two riders will light it out alouo over the same course next Thursday afternoon. The finish of last night’s race was a remarkably- fine one, half-a-dozen Wheels separating the three placed men, with the fourth man 100 yards ■away. Bell was the first man to reach Ormond, with the winner second. McKenzie caught King on tho return journey, but was' unable to keep with the winner, who. it will (be remembered, won the Ormond race last year also. H. Anderson, off the scratch, mark, rode a great race, and it was only owing to a slight collision at Ormond that the did not compete the course in the fastest time. As it was he was only two seconds slower than the best recorded.

A large crowd of people watched the start and the finish, and Mr. H. J. Jamieson, representative of the Dunlop Tyre Company, acted as starter and judge, with Mr. W: Howard timekeeper. The final race for the cup takes place shortly to Te Kanaka and back, and the first three men and the 'fastest timo man in each of the previous events will contest it.
