ARREST OF SUSPECTS

WELLINGTON, Dee. 9

One of the men believed to he concerned in the recent highway robberies was recognised bv a victim going into an hotel last night. The police wore summoned, and bagged two men. one only after a long chase through the streets. A man named Borlace tried siniit.ite other robbers on his own account last night by snatching away a watch and chain, but the victim resolutely pursued him, cornered him. and with assistance secured him. Two men, "William Ne.il and John McCormick, who were arrested yesterday on a charge of assault and ■robbery, were .before the Court t-o-day and remanded to 16th December.

POLICE COURT PROCEEDINGS. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Joseph O’Grady, a- young man, was committed for trial on a charge of 'assaulting and robbing John Nice* 1 , of £4 os and a watch and chain worth £5 15s. Claude Hamilton Maxwell and Patrick Joseph Nolan pleaded guilty to steai!ing u ham, and were committed to the .Supreme Court for sentence.
