POPULARITY OF MR. DOBoON. OFFICIAL TRIBUTES. United Press Association. Copyright LONDON, Dec. 7. Mr. Dobson left London on Friday. He wrote lo his wife on tlio same evening, stating that lio was returning owing to dizziness. Ho .telegraphed again on Saturday for his wife to meet him at Charing Cross. The newspapers, owing to the frequency of accidents, suggest that all steamers should carry searchlights. A tribute is paid to the popularity of the deceased by Australians in London, and by official circles, who say that he deserved all praise for his untiring efforts and patience in seeking to advance the interests of Australia.

LONDON, Dec. 8. The Hon. W. P. Reeves paid his tribute to the late Mr. Dobson. Lord Crewe, Secretary of State for the Colonies, telegraphed to Tasmania his deep personal sympathy, and sent a personal letter in similar terms to Mr. Dobson’s, widow. Lord Crewo says that he held Mr. Dobson in high esteem, and regarded him as an altogether charming representative of the colony. . .
