POVERTY BAY CLUB

Th© second round of the double scull ling races for Mr. C. Morso’s trophies was concluded on Saturday night, when two further heats were rowed.

C. Clark land M. Sceafs (7sec) beat T. Sheen and P. Grogan (4sec).—This was a splendid race. Both crews got well away, and at the footbridge Ciark had a lead of a length. Sheen made a great effort to catch the leaders, but was unable to do so, and just lost by a few feet, after u- most exciting finish. C. Somervell and IV. Fitzgerald (8 sec.) beat A. Pritchard and J- McKenzie (Gscc). —Another good race, SomervoGfc quickly establishing a slight laid, which he maintained, to the finish, eventually winning by lialf-a-length. Tho /races will be continued tonight, when Karton and Holscbier (18sec) meet C. Clark and M. Scoats (6sec), and C. Somervell land W. Fitzgerald (Bsec) meet R. McGuffio and P. Fisdhbach (4sec). The winners of these races will meet to-morrow night in the final. The following entries liavo been received for the competition for flic gold medals presented by Mr. F. Harris. The ajaces will commcnco on the 16th inst., and the crews go into training immediately. In the appended iist the strokes aro mentioned first in each ease: J. McKenzie and F. Danie.ll, F.
