To-day Sir Joseph and Lady Ward will celebrate their silver wedding. Their son Cyril will be married to-day. Mr A. G. Stephens, journalist, reviewer, and writer of more than Australasian reputation, who has been connected with the editorial staff of the Wellington “Evening Post” for over a year past, is severing his connection 'with that journal at the end of the year. He intends to make t-our of the Dominion prior to returning to Australia. Miss Bushy, a member of the “Mrs Wiggs” Comedy Company, who has been prohibited from playing during the New Zealand tour, owing to -an attack of rheumatics, is at present, undergoing treatment in the Wellington Hospital. The visitor recovered considerably during last week, and hopes to return to America with the company about- a fortnight hence. From'the other side comes news of the marriage of Mr Reynolds Denniston, a son of Mr Justice Dennisjp toiij and a member of the Julius Knight Co., to Miss Valentine Sidney, formerly of the ‘Peter Pan’ Company. The Hon. Captain W. H .Tucker, M.L.C., was yesterday re-elected Chairman of the Cook County Council for the seventh consecutive year. Captain Jenkins, of the Salvation Army, who has been in Taranaki on a fortnight’s furlough, returns to Gisborne this - morning.
