HOSPITAL SOCIAL.

The Hospital Social Committee made happy choice when the members decided to hold their annual Hospital ball on the evening of St. Andrews Day. The weather was delightfully cool, and the gathering was an unprecedented success. About 2oQ couples were present. Among the guests were the Eton. James Carroll and Mrs. Carroll, the Mayor and Mayoress “T'Mnand Mrs. W. D. Lysnar), Cr. J. W. Bright (Chairman of the Hospital Trustees) and Mrs. Bright, and Mr. and Mi’s. John Townley. The M.C.’s were Messrs W. Webb, T. G. Lawless, H, Miller, 0. HaSs sen, A. F. . Kennedy?' Jl AT -Spiers, BremgaWT These gentlemen were most assiduous in the discharge of their duties, .and in attending to the comfort of the dancers. The floor was in excellent order. Tho music for the programme of 24 dances was provided by the Federal Band, funder the conductorship of Mr. D. McKiliop, and Messr s Yita Bros.’ and Mr. Wootton’s orchestras. Tho ladies’ committee provided an excellent supper, and the floral decorations were in admirable tasie. The hon. secretaries, Messrs T. G. Lawless and It. Somervell (Mr. J. It. Little unfortunately being seriously ill and unable to attend) looked to the general supervision of the arrangements, -and to them a. great deal of credit for the success of the ball is due.

To-night the children’s ball will be hold. First-class music and an excellent supper will be provided, and everything will be done to secure a pleasant evening for the juveniles. Adults will bo admitted with the children, but will not be allowed to dance before 10 o’clock. The price &f tickets is, for adults 3s, the ticket also admitting two children, and for children alone Is. The children’s ball is the last, of the present season, and as the object is most worthy, it is hoped that parents will liberally respond and allow the youngsters to have a good time.
