LONDON, Nov. 20
Reuter’s Lucknow correspondent reports that Lord Minto, thanking the Talukdars (landholders) of Oudh, for unswerving devotion to the Crown, declared that lie did not share the opinion that the time was inopportune for the introduction of broader political principles. He did not believe that the fanatical deeds of a few blackened the reputation of a whole people. Nevertheless, he recognised that the Government, being face to face with an anarchist conspiracy and a menace to personal safety and public security, would not hesitate to forge special weapons to eradicate the evil which was undermining the welfare of the country.
