Ladies and gentlemen,— At the request of a number of Ratepayers f I offer my services to you as your Repr< as a f alive in the. County Council. On account of the enormous increase in rates, which has in some cases trebled during the last two or three years., the present Council having raised the rate from threefarthings to virtually three halfpence, and the valuation, of property having been increased within the last three years from 20 and in some eases up to. 75 per cent, the rate has gone tip to wliat I consider a small rent. And I do not think it necessary to raise such a large rate to keep the roads and drainsyin this riding in sufficient repair, as I,think with judicious and careful expenditure the rates could be. considerably reduced. I must say if returned I will try to do justice to all part's of the riding. Yours sincorely, C* J. PARKER»
