Mr. J. G. W. Ait ken, M.H.R., who has been incapacitated by a sharp attack of lumbago, is recovering, but is yet far from well. A Press Association telegram from Christchurch says: Miss Bertha Julius daughter of Bishop Julius, was married at the Cathedral tins afternoon to Mr. P. A. El worthy, of Tinian,. Between SQO and 600 guests were present', the Cathedral being crowded with other spectators. .Air, J. J. Ashton, Lloyd’s representative for the past seven years, lias arrived in Wellington to act as principal surveyor for Lloyds throughout New Zealand. Mr Ashton will probably make bis headquarters ill Christchurch. —Press Association. Mr. J. G. F. Richards, whoso brilliant success in winning a scholarship at Guy’s Hospital (London) of tho value of £l5O a year, as announced by a cable message to-day, was (says a Press Association wire) educated primarily at the To Aro State school. After winning honors at Wellington College lie spent two years studying science at Victoria College. He won tho Sir George Grey scholarship of the value of £SO a year, and with this he went to London. Ho is twentyone years of age.
