THE MISSING METEOR.
A CLUE TO THE MYSTERY
Just threo weeks ago yesterday, the local fishing boat Meteor left the port in the pursuit of her customary occupation, and having oil board two men named Arno Olson and John Wulltino. As will doubtless be remembered, the vessel did not return to port, and after many days of anxious waiting for tidings-of the missing men, all hopo was practically abandoned some little time ago. Yesterday, however, the mystery was practically solved by the fact of a coat and pieces of wreckage being discovered on the Kaiti side in tin- vieinty of Tuaniotn Island. Tho coat, which was brought into town by Air. T. Shaw, has boon identified by several persons as one belonging to Olsen, and which he had been wearing prior to his departure in tho ill-fated Meteor. The boards picked up are also thought to bo additional evidence of a disaster, as they are considered by many who knew the vessel to be portions of her. The discovery is slid by seafaring, moil and others to bo conclusive proof that , the unfortunate men have lost thoir lives, and has dissipated the last vestige of hopo that they had been cast ashoro in some inaccessible place. Sergeant Hutton lias givon instructions for an additional search to bo made in tho locality where tho coat and wreckage wore found with a view, if possible* of obtaining additional proof of tho fate of tho Meteor and her luckless crow.
