To-day Mri Fraser, in company with the Hon. J, Carroll, waited on tiie lion. Mr. lla 11-Jones in connection with the matter. They urged that a detailed survey should bo'made. The. Minister expressed his appreciation of the necessity for the work, anti .acknowledged that the completion of a detailed survey was paramount. He expressed the opinion that much of the delay in the past construction of soveral ol our railways was attributable to the absence of a comprehensive and detailed survey. With regard to the N apier-Gisborne line survey, the work, lie said, would he takert m hand this summer and pushed on.
