GISBORNE LADIES’ CLUB
The Wapiti (Napier) Ladies Club intends to visit Gisborne during t o latter part of this month to plav the ■Gisborne Ladies’ Club, and the selectors to the locil Club, chose the following teams last evening--10 Senior Team : A. Hud, I) Osborne, T Somervell, 'M. Moore, F. bawyer, \f Somervell (captain), M. M inter, V.'lrskine G.AVarren, V. Warren, and V. Walters. , r Junior Team: E. Fromm, P. Maynard, M. Smith, D. Fyson L. Robertson, N. Hooper, M. Baty, M. Cockerill, E. Jones, E. Robb, and V. Dawson. Emergency. M. Bard. These two teams will, weather permitting, play a match on the Domain this afternoon.
THE HOCKEY SHIELD. CHALLENGES TO AUCKLAND. [Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 5. Tho Nelson representative hockey team arrived lioro this morning, via tho west coast. The team wont on to Thames to-day, where they play to-morrow, returning t<> Auckland to play for the shield on Saturday. Thames has also challenged Auckland for the shield, the mutch to be ■played on tho 22ml inst. ... Should Auckland bo successful in those matches, Wellington will come north, having challenged , ior the shield. The Auckland Association has fixed September sth for the match with Wellington.
