M.C.C.’S OPINION ON PROFESSIONALISM. [Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, August 5. The Now Zealand Cricket Council recently decided to communicate with tho Marylebono Cricket Club ill regard to the qualification of professionals engaged in tho ‘Dominion, and ascertain whether the new rule would apply to a Dominion or. provincial team playing imported professionals against foreign teams. . The following opinion bus been received : “It is tho opinion of the M.C.C. Conimitteo that a province in the Dominion of Now Zealand is not included in the words ‘a British colony, dependonev, or State 1 in tbe rules of county cricket (rule 1), whereby a. residential qualification for an English County is affected. It is thought, however, that evils will arise in New Zealand if English professionals are brought over to take part in the iiiterprovincinl cricket ©intost in that countiy. F. E.
