POUAWA. (From our own Correspondent.) '■Although we are within two weeks of the shortest day, the winter ,so far has been ian extremely mild one. If •a few frosts and >a few days’ rain he excepted, the'weather conditions have been perfect. .There as still ample feed_ for all classes of stock, rwhich are doing woll, and should give their owners no anxiety for this whiter, Owing to the heavy drop in wool values, the outlook for pastoralists 'is not so bright at present, hut' -afi proof that there is confidence in the future, settlers are steadilv improving their holdings. Messrs Fitzgerald and McDonell ‘have each had a wool shed erected, and the working of their respetcive holdings Should be greatly facilitated. ■Mr. Hunt, from the Gisborne Freezing Works, was again in the district last week, land scoured a small line of fats, which most likely will bo the last of tho season.
