A meeting of the Town Hnl-1-.Com-mittee'of the Auckland City Council was held yesterday for the purposo of opening and discussing the tenders of ilhe proposed 'Town Hull. Tho following were tho tenders: (1) For tho whodo of tho works, including stone elevation to the Queen street frontage and portion .shown of Grey street, lint excluding the tower and terrace: Ferguson and Malcolm (Auckland) £82,689 18s; J. T. Julian (Auckland) £82,050; J. Jude .(Adelaide) £93,432 7s Gd; Mitchell ami King (Wellington) £101,392. (2) For the whole of the works as before, but substituting brick work and cement dressings ifor stone front to lesser hall and entrance to Queen street: Ferguson and Malcolm £82,0'17 11s; J. T. Julian £8.1,500; J. J. Jiude, £92,396 I.ls 5(1; .Mitchell mid King £103,199. (3) For cost of tower and front corner terrace: Ferguson and Malcolm £47-20 9s; J. T, Julian £5125; J. Jude £7405 19s sd; Mitchell and' King (total cost) £112,388. It wie pointed out that the increase in the tenders above tho allocation was d ie, amongst other things, to the greater amount of accommodation provided in the building, increase in pyi.ee of ilalhor and material, and the substitution Of stone for the brick front. AUCKLAND. Juno 9. The Town Hall Committee ©if the City Council again met this afternoon to consider the tenders for the new hall. After (further consideration the committee decided that in their opinion tho tender of Messrs Ferguson and (Malcolm mils the lowest for the whole work. Reports wore received from the City (Engineer and the architect, anddt was resolved to consider the -whole matter at a meeting of . the who'e Council to be held oh Thursday next.
