THE PRICE OF MEAT.

NO RISE IN AUCKLAND, (SHORTAGE OF STOCK DENIED. (Special to “Times.”) AUCKLAND, June 9. A Dunedin telegram states that there is :.i probability of an increase in the price of meat, in that.city after a couple of months. Enquiries made by a “Star” reporter from Auckland butchers go to show that tliero is at present no sign of an increase in this city. On the other hand, they are inclined to predict a decrease. 'Hiere his been so much grass after the drought that fat stock is now plentiful. During the drought, stock in the districts which supply Auckland with meat could not fatten, and some fat stock had to be imported. Tbe result is that now there is a good supply of fats in tQie district available for consumption. On the wliole. it is not, in the opinion of local butchers, correct t 0 say that there is a shortage of fat stock, in the North Island.
