A meeting of citizens, presided over by the Mayor, was field yesterday to consider the most suitable form ot welcome to the Governor on his urrival to take .up liis residence at lulmerston on the 18th inst. A coinmittee of twenty was set up, and it was decided that tho Mayor and Mr. TV. T. “Wood, 'M.P., should meet the Governor on his arrival. He will then be escorted, iif the weather is lino, to tfie show grounds, and if wet to tho 'Opera House, where an address of welcome will be tendered. The volunteers are to parade, and tlie school children will also assemble. It is .probable that all business premises will be closed on that day. A social function will be held on a subsequent evening.
