THE HON. MR. CARROLL. THE PRIME MINISTER. The Hon. James Carroll was about town a good deal yesterday, and m the aftornoon ho visited the Cosmopolitan Chip. He is feeling very much better but will not return to Wellington until after the visit of Sir Joseph Ward. Mr. Carroll told a “Times”, reporter that- he oxoected Sir Joseph would arrive in Gisborne on Wednesday next unless ho was delayed on tlio journey. Iho Prime Minister,” lie added, “will do his best to be up to time, and. ,aa ho has fixed June 10th for. his visit I expect him on that date.” •

Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Juno 4. Sir Joseph -Ward arrives here, tomorrow from the south on his_ way to Oxford, where he is booked for a political address. On Saturday ho goes on to Cheviot, whero he is expected at 8 o’clock, and will attend a social given by the residents. On Sunday ho crosses the Waiau, and visits Meiulip Hills, whero he will bo the guest of Mr. A. W, Rutherford. M.P. On Monday tlio local residents intend waylaying Sir J. G. Ward on the banks of tho Waiau, .to impress upon him tho necessity of putting tlio bridge in hand without delay* Tho Premier will then come on to Christchurch, where arrangements have been made for him to deliver a political address in His Majesty’s Theatre.
