WESTPORT MURDER CASE.
THE MAGISTRATE’S DECISION.
NEITHER MAN THE MURDERER. • - ' Press Association. WESTPORT, May 31. In the Boui'ke murder case, Mr. ltawson, S.M., this morning reluctantly committed, -Hallinien and Anderson for trial at Nelson, for the murder Of Ernest Bourke.—“ Reluctantly,” he said, “because I believe Connelly was alone tho murderer of Bourke.” His Worship said he was not acting judicially, if he wore trying tho case lie would dismiss tho information against the accused. It was for the police to deal further with Connelly. Mr. Wilson, for tho police, strenuously opposed hail. Mr. McDonald,' for accused, 6aid it was like a comic opera that a nian declared by the magistrate to be the sole murderer should go free and ho sitting in Court, and two innocent men bo detained in custody and refused hail. The Magistrate granted bail in two sureties of £IOOO each. Mr. McDonald stated that ho had further evidence that will prove Connelly to be the murderer, and Hallimen anil Anderson innocent. The police said the evidence had not I yet been fully communicated to them.
