In connection with the protest by, Invercargill exporters against tho action of the Government regarding the inspection of potatoes at the port of arrival, ami tho request for inspection at the port of shipment, a meeting of Dunedin merchants was. held, to-niglit when it was decided to sen'll the following telegram ..to -the Minister of Trade and Customs:, .‘.‘Du tic-) din merchants have unanimously agreed to ask you Ao grant permission for a grader'to.certify as to the condition "of all potatoes'tit the port of shipment instead of at the port of destination as'a matter''of vital importance to shippers.” ■lt was also deckled that'in view., of the regulations no further sales of potatoos bo made except the certificate of a .grader or other, authorised person as to tho condition at the port of shipment be accepted a 6 filial and that no further risks be entertained after that shipment is effected.
