THE STRANDED TAVIUNI.
EMBEDDED IN SEVEN FEET OF SANB. REFLOATING ATTEMPTS ABANDONED TILL SPRING. (Press Association.) ' WELLINGTON, May 7. The Union 'Company’s Terawhiti, which lias had a couple of unsuccessful attempts to tow the stranded Taviuni off the beach, arrived back in port this morning from Westport. The staunch little vessel accomplished a , smart- run up of 20 hours, averaging an hourly -speed of about 11) knots. It is reported that another attempt will he made to refloat the Taviuni at the time of the next spring tides. The steamer is hard and fast embedded in seven or eight •feet- of sand.
