annual communication. (Press Association.) AUCKLAND,. May -6. The annual communication of tho Masonic Grand Lodge of Now Zealand was opened this afternoon, M.W. Bro. Lord Plunkot, Grand Master, presiding. Tho report of tho Board of General Purposes allowed that the funds of the Grand Lodgo now amounted to £10,158, of which £3248 belonged to tho fund of benevolence. There were now 157 lodges in tho Dominion, and applications were likely to bo received shortly for the establishment of others in several growing townships. It was decided that too next annual communication ho held at New Plymouth in May, 1909. His Excellency Lord Plunket, in returning thanks for liis election lor the third time as Grand Master, reviewed the progress of the New Zealand constitution during past years. The membership had increased by 1200 and eight new lodges had been opened. The event which stood out most prominently was -the success which had attended the appeal ho had ventured to make two years ago to brethren to substantially increase the capital account of the Widows and Orphans and Aged Masons Fund. He warmly welcomed Brother Feiding, grand chaplain of the Grand Lodge of New 'South Wales, who had been deputed by the Grand Master of New South AVales to represent that state at the installation. At the owning sitting, AV. M. Bro. Nicholson was installed as pro-Graud Master. The Grand Master announced appointments as follows: —Deputy Grand Master R.AV. Bro. T. J. AVithers (Canterbury), senior Grand AVarden 'R.AV. Bro. Jas. Moncrieff, junr. (AVairarapa), junior Grand AA r-ar-den R.AV. (Bro. N. J. M. Rein (Invercargill). Grand superintendents were appointed as 'follows: AVest Coast, R. AV. 'Bro. J. 'II. Harknees; AVol ling ton, It. AA r . Bro. Fletcher; Canterbury, R.AV. Bro. IS. C. Bingham ; (Otago, R.AV. Bro. T. Ross, Nelson, and Marlborough, R.AV. Bro. AV. Moycs; Southland, R.AV. Bro. M. Thompson; Hawke’s Bay, R.AV. Bro. J. AV. McDougall; Taranaki, R.AV. Bro. F. P. CorkitU. The Auckland district remains under the direction of the pro-Grand Master. These with other Grand Lodge Officers were duly invested.
