THE BLACKBALL TROUBLE.

MINERS’ UNION PROTEST. INDIGNATION 'AT BLACKBALL. Press Association. GREYMOUTH, May 3. There is a good deal of indignation expressed in Blackball over the issue of a summons by Mr. Isbell, Inspector of Factories, notifying that he will apply for orders under section 101 of tho Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration' Act. 1905, against members of the Blackball Miners’ Union, and has the place and time of hearing fixed for Monday, ten a.m., at Auckland. At a meeting of the . Union held to consider the matter, the following resolution was carried:—' “To Judge Sim, Messrs S. Brown and J. A. McCullough, at Auckland. “As President of the Blackball Miners’ Union , on behalf of _ myself and other members of the Union, we protest and object to an application made by the Inspector of Factories being heard at Auckland on Monday next, outside Westland industrial district, for an order directing the payment by tho individual members of the Union of any portion of the fine levied on -the Union. Wo wish to submit points showing that the Court has no jurisdiction to order individual members to pay any portion of the fine inflicted. The time allowed for appearing at Auckland is insufficient, and we cannot afford the expense of travelling there. (Signed) H. J. Fox, President of tho Blackball Miners’ Union.”
