POVERTY .BAY CRICKET ASSOCIATION. The usual weekly meeting of the above association was held last evening at the British Empire Hotel, Mr. W. Cibson presiding, linton, forwarded his resignation owliuton, forwarded hi sresignatioh owing to being unable to find 1 time to carry out the duties. The resignation was accepted with regret. The following appointments were mado for the matches with the Eden Club: —Umpires, Messrs. R. Thelwall and Rice; scorers, Messrs. A. G. Laureneon and G, .Witty; gate-

keepers, Messrs. Owen and Fenton. It- was decided, to take tho Eden team lor a drive into tho country oil Sunday afternoon. Owing to the Coast plnyors not being able to como to Gisborne to keep the fixtures arranged for them against tho Edon Club, it was docided that the local cloven originally selected to meet the Coast on Friday bo pitted against Edon on Tuesday. TO-DAY’(S MATCH. At 10 o’clock this morning tho Edon Club commenco tho first, match of tho series of matches against local players at Victoria Domain. The teams will be as follows: Edon : G. Mills (captain), Somervell, Murdock, F. Taylor, O. Ollift, Hobson, F. Brown, Gordon, Buckland, Buckley. Local cloven: S. G. Glennie, 1. G. Sharp, Frank Burke, S. .McConnell, Davies, Schofield, Monk, IT. E. Maude, Dudliold, L. Coop, and Judge. On Tuesday next the .following local eleven will meet Eden : J. Charles, Dudliold, Adamson, Fred Burke, Sharpies, Whyte, Babb, McCall, Austin, \Y. Sharp, and .another. Tho following telegram has been roceived by tho lion; secretary of the Cricket Association (Mr. J. G. Gi'in--1 inton) from tho secretary of tho East Coast team: I—“ Exceedingly 1 —“Exceedingly regret having to cancel matches owing to the eloventh hour defection of several players.”
