AN APPRECIABLE INCREASE. EXTENSIVE IMPORTATIONS. Press Association. AUCKLAND, .March 31. ,/The Customs duties collected at Auckland during March totalled £73,326, compared with £60,670 last March. This is largely due to the fact that of late large importations of foreign goods have been made with, a view to getting them in under the tariff which expired to-day. In March last year also the duty on sugar, now admitted free, totalled £IO,OOO, thus emphasising the increase in trade of the port.
