THE CULVERDEN ESTATE.
QUESTION OF COMPENSATION,
Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 17. Further evidence was hea'rd to-day i.u the Compensation Court in regard to tho compensation to be paid by the Government for the Culverden estate, compulsorily acquired under the Lands for Settlement Act. Opening the ease for the Crown, Mr. Findlay stated that tho average value estimated by his witnesses would he fully £25,000 less than tho lowest value given by any of tho claimants’ witnesses, and £45,000 below the amount requested by tho claimants. The Crown values* - ould he based on the actual capacity, as distinguished from the potential' capacity of the estate, and the actual earnings instead of tho speculative possibilities of income.
